ARTICLE 1. MEMBERSHIP
Section 1.01 Qualifications
One or more assigned deacons shall examine persons who present themselves for membership.
Candidates found to meet one of the following qualifications, and having successfully completed a church
designated, introductory program or course, shall be voted upon by the church at a regularly scheduled
business meeting.
Section 1.02 Baptism
Persons, who have recently received Jesus as their Savior and Lord, or those who have never been
baptized by immersion since becoming a believer, demonstrate their faith through baptism by immersion.
Section 1.03 Letter
Persons coming from Baptist churches of like faith and order (consistent with The Baptist Faith and
Message) may be accepted by letter of transfer or discharge from their previous church.
Section 1.04 Statement of Faith
Persons who can testify that they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, have received
scriptural baptism, and cannot obtain a letter in accordance with the By-Laws Article 1 Section 1.03,
may be accepted by statement.
Section 1.05 Watch Care
College students who desire to retain membership in their home church may unite with this church in
this way.
Section 2.01 Rights
Members of this church may act and vote in the transactions of the church. Watch Care members are
not entitled to act and vote in the transactions of the church.
Section 3.01 Quorum
Section 3.01.01 General Business Quorum
Fifteen resident members shall constitute a quorum necessary for the transaction of general church
business and for the election of officers.
Section 3.01.02 Special Quorum
For the calling of a pastor, purchase or sale of property or for amendments and additions to the
constitution, a quorum of twenty-five percent of the resident membership is necessary.
Section 4 Member Termination
Any member may request a letter of dismissal, or a letter of recommendation, or to be dropped from
the church roll. Requests for letters are to be in writing and are to be given to the church clerk or church
secretary. Letters will be granted at the regularly scheduled business meetings.
